The Light of the World: A Memoir by Elizabeth Alexander
5.0

Everything about this book is beautiful. Alexander is a poet, and the language she uses to describe her relationship with her partner and her family's response to his death is beautiful, artistic, soulful. The love she shared with her partner was deep, powerful, and beautiful as well. While her family's loss is deep and her grief is heavy, the love they shared - and the love she still has for him shines through like a great light throughout this book, a North Star, the light of the world.

Alexander bares her soul in this amazing memoir. I fell in love with her family, felt empathy for them, and fell in love with her writing as well.
