Betrayal: The Betrayal; The Secret; The Burning by R.L. Stine

4.0

A fun, over-the-top, and atmospheric series that I greatly enjoyed. In R.L. Stine fashion it is filled with its typical cliffhanger chapter endings and melodramatics, but it's also more mature in its writing and way more graphic in its violence depictions. It dragged for me in the second novel, but by the third I was reabsorbed! I recommend it if you're interested in gothic/forbidden romances, horror set in the puritan era, and the "Fear Street" films on Netflix.
My Rating for each:
The Betrayal: 4/5 stars
The Secret: 3.5/5 stars
The Burning: 4.5/5 stars
