Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn, David Levithan

2.0

“You think fairy tales are only for girls? Here's a hint - ask yourself who wrote them. I assure you, it wasn't just the women. It's the great male fantasy - all it takes is one dance to know that she's the one. All it takes is the sound of her song from the tower, or a look at her sleeping face. And right away you know - this is the girl in your head, sleeping or dancing or singing in front of you. Yes, girls want their princes, but boys want their princesses just as much. And they don't want a very long courtships. They want to know immediately.”

How could you not love the concept of this book? I'm a married woman not looking for love because I've found my soul mate but out of pure curiosity I would LOVE to do a experiment such of this just to see who I can snag as a friend.

Out of pure boredom and the help of her brother, Lily takes a red notebook fills it with clues and places it on the shelf of a bookstore. There's a few factoring things that need to be squared away before you can participate which Dash finds and matches perfectly to. The story line is based during winter break from before to after Christmas when both Lily and Dash are bored with their unusually lonely Christmas's. It's kind of like a game of tag, one person leaves the notebook for the other to find while leaving snippets of info they have written in the book. They learn more and more about each other and maybe just maybe they both find what they are looking in the game of tag.

I liked the concept of this book, I think it was creative and a pretty magical thought to begin with. The characters on the other had to me were not very likeable. I thought of Lily as extremely immature and questioned myself if she was old enough to even be dating. On that note, I think this was defiantly more of a teen read which I'm all about reading but it didn't 100% wowz me.
