Full Dissidence: Notes from an Uneven Playing Field by Howard Bryant

My favorite sportswriter (and NPR commentator.) Sports are a lens for looking at racism, power, and other issues, e.g., the militarization of sports. It's interesting that his last book was written when sports figures (e.g., Jordan, Woods, Simpson) did not take public stands against racism and inequality, denying their racial identity. Now Kaepernick, Rapinoe, James and others have spoken out, realizing they have a powerful platform to highlight societal issues. Mr. Bryant continues this trend by using his platrform writing about sports to address major issues. Always thought-proving and challenging.
