Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of those stories that never gets old. I loved this volume so much!!!!!
I liked the conversation about how bending is an essential part of a person's identity, all the resistance Aang has to the fast-growing industrial revolution the world is facing, which is slowly casting benders aside. Therefore, they want to erase the non-benders who are beginning to rise from their shadow. The grudge between blenders and non-benders is a pressing topic in the 1st season of The Legend of Korra, and in this volume, we get to see its early stages.
Everything was great. The fighting scenes were epic as always, the new characters were interesting and their design was amazing. I have two complaints though: 1) Where is Zuzu?! And 2) The ending felt too sudden and open, it gave me “and they saved the day with the power of friendship and lived happily ever after” sorts of vibe. Everything was left kind of unresolved, which leads me to believe that maybe will get another installment...? I don't know.
Anyway, I'm a slave for all the things ATLA, so yeah. ‘Till the next one fellas!
