The Trial of Sören Qvist by Janet Lewis

5.0

After this mesmerizingly compelling, short novel, I'm eager to read more of Janet Lewis's work. It's too bad I started with book two of her Cases of Circumstantial Evidence trilogy (believably set in 17th-century Denmark; the other two are set in France at roughly the same period), but I hope that won't make the experience of reading all three at some point less impactful. I'd never heard of Janet Lewis before coming across her work among my Goodreads friends, and I'm grateful to know about her now.
