The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley

i love books about rich people and books about childhood ! what a mix this was

the way leo’s naivety is written is done so well, lots of the imagery is very “on the nose” as i’ve seen people complain about, but i feel like that lends itself to its themes and works well! i loved leo as a character, my heart hurt for him, and ted and marian felt very real as well (marian felt real in the way she was real in the mind of a young boy, more as a concept of beauty at first rather than a real person). i feel like it’ll lend itself well to a reread in the future and i’m already having fun looking into theory on it which is always a good sign of a well-written book

the worst part though was the cricket match that went on forever omg, to quote bob fossil from the mighty boosh: “and that’s why i don’t like cricket”
