Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin - Lost Years by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz

3.5

The Lost Day Special, which focuses on April and the new generation of turtles, is definitely the highlight of this collection.  The main storyline of the other issues, which focuses on Michaelangelo's ordeals in Eurasia before the events of The Last Ronin, is fairly high quality in most respects, but it gets pretty dumb in some places, and the color design is not good.  For some reason they decided to lean super heavily into shades of brown; even blood is colored brown; and it gets progressively worse until the last issue in which the ground is brown, the backgrounds are brown, and even the sky is brown.  You could come up with an excuse for this in terms of setting a scene and the worldbuilding, but it seriously detracts from the book's visual appeal.  If they wanted a grim and dirty vibe I think it would have been more interesting, not to mention more in keeping with the legacy of TMNT comics, to have gone black and white with it.
