A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams

3.0

i knew what the book was going to be about early on, but i was hoping it would more than yet another propaganda story about 'the all important once in a lifetime romantic love', but unfortunately it was mainly about that. with lines like this one "I was a fool, thinking that I was born to do anything grander than loving her.” lmao, gtfoh.

there were definitely some parts of the book that i liked, which is why i gave it 3*. the history of Harlem was great, her relationship with Della was beautiful (it sucked that it was also in service of the plot), her love for plants was also beautiful.

also, what really bothered me was how the author decided to make all 3 sisters into these horrible people and their main function was just to be horrible people.

i definitely should have DNF'ed it.
