A Little Gay History: Desire and Diversity Around the World by R.B. Parkinson

5.0

A charming little guide to LGBT+ history via the objects in the British Museum. It's not particularly in depth, but I don't think it could be expected to be given the format. The photos are lovely and the text is elegantly written. One particular highlight is towards the end of this short book, the caption of a photo that includes visitors to the museum states: "No heterosexuals were harmed in taking this picture".

I enjoyed the book more because I'd previously heard the author's lecture at Oxford, which can be found here: https://podcasts.ox.ac.uk/great-unrecorded-history-lgbt-heritage-and-world-cultures. I'd heartily recommend listening to it if you enjoyed the book.
