The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After by Clemantine Wamariya

5.0

I received this book as a free arc through First To Read. This memoir tells a story that needs to be told. Most people don't realize how easily they could become refugees. Most people don't truly understand the suffering and the aftermath of war. Clemantine Wamariya tells the story of her life so far masterfully. She goes into just as much detail as is needed in order to get her points across. She bares her anger and pain for everyone to see. Even with all of the suffering that jumps off of the page tthere is also hope. Hope that Clemantine will eventually find her peace. Her story is one that will stay with you and make you realize how fortunate you are and how easily out all can be taken from you.
