The Backup Bride Proposal by Jaci Burton

medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? Yes

This one made me both happy and sad. This is the last book in the Boots and Bouquets series. I will miss it. I really enjoyed The Backup Bride Proposal. I'm not always into books where the hero or heroine are either actors or musicians. I'll read them they just aren't my favorites. I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed this one.

I really enjoyed the idea of this storyline. The idea of being a stand in for an actor is something I'm not sure I could do it. I'd be a nervous wreck, but Mae handled it perfectly. I really enjoyed Mae. She's a bit sad of a person but she also loves her life too. I think she's like the rest of us. Sometimes all is well and other times we are reminded of the sad moment in our past.

Not only did I really like Mae I have to say as a hero Kane is a great one. He's very down to earth and relatable. I love how much he cared about his family. You often forget that he's there because he's an actor.

Both Mae and Kane work well together. You'll enjoy the times that they spend together. The little moments are what make this story. I liked when they went to spend the holiday with Kane's family. His family are great, and they were very nice to Mae and brought her into their family.

They had a few bumps in the road but were able to work them out nicely. The Backup Bride Proposal is a well-written story that I really enjoyed. It wrapped up the series very nicely.
