Die Bösen: Die Geheimnisse des Schattenmarktes 6 by Robin Wasserman, Cassandra Clare

5.0

I forced myself to finish it today and it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be with the age difference. It's actually a good story, finding the lost Herondales, getting to know who Jace's mother is, seeing Valentine up close. It was good, but again, I was blinded by something that ended up not even being a big deal (the ages). I couldn't get past the age difference because while 5 years is not that much the fact that she's a minor, and at just at those ages it's not appropriate, it's weird, and it was just really hard to read because of that, I didn't want to read some kind of twisted "love story" where we had to pretend it was okay for a 22 yr old to be with a 17 yr old. I thought he'd be the one pursuing and I just didn't want to read an older man pursuing a teenager so I will say it's better to see that Steven never felt that way about her so he wasn't the problem and he felt the appropriate feelings he was supposed to: thought she was like a sister. Céline had it rough, I get it, but she's out of it and needs SO MUCH HELP. Crazy story.

Also, damn Valentine is GOOD. He knows exactly what he's doing. He's a genius... It's sick (in the bad way) and twisted.

This is the first chapter I didn't cry reading probably because I was too busy being disgusted. But the Jem and Tessa scene was very sweet and sad and did make me want to tear up but I didn't bc as I said I was preoccupied
