Chronologically this is the second story in the Feluda series. But I would say this is where everything begins. Because this was the story that made me fall in love with this series. Compared to the short length of the first story, this one has more breathing room as its longer. Which really showcased the adventure aspect of the whole Feluda series. Which was a total surprise for me. Didn't know that going on an adventure, to unknown lands in a forgotten time could be so much fun. Add the mystery elements and colorful characters and also the marvelous writing style to the play, now you got yourself a whole package. Though the first few chapters were a bit slow but that is to be expected from a detective story. As at that point the setting and characters were just being introduced. But when the ball started rolling I just couldn't put it down. My preconceived notion of thinking that a detective story without mind bending mystery isn't gonna be fun. As the sherlock tv series made me believe unless its mind bending its not a good mystery. But this book proves that adventure and mystery is a better combo than just writing one mind bending story. Also I am in awe of Satyajit Ray's writing. He writes with a bit of amusement in every line. Even the mundane lines feels humorous. Even though it's not trying to be overly funny, it's just makes you feel happy. Probably that's just my interpretation of his style. Looking forward to finishing the whole series very soon.
