Requiem for the Devil by Jeri Smith-Ready

4.0

If Lucifer walks among us, where would he be? Washington D.C. of course! Maybe it was intentional, but I thought that having the devil and his minions in the capital was befitting. After all, if you wanted to spread evil, the first thing to do was incite blind ambition to the politicians who would bargain with the devil himself.

This is the story of Lucifer, his fall and his eventual salvation. I've got to be honest though, I've got this idealism that the Devil procures gore. Well, was I disappointed or what? Aside from a couple of tolerable torture scenes, this book is as violent as a level 2 hurricane. Lucifer works in the background, puppet master who controls every famine, disasters, and war mongering dictators from the third world countries...and then he met Gianna O'Keefe. His downfall and well, you guessed it, his eventual salvation.

I liked this book. The banters were intelligent and the discussion of religion was not in-your-face. It will make you think over and over again about the self debate you have when your life is so horrible, you question whether or not you should live. Then you ask, if God is omnipresent, omniscient, why do all bad things happen to good people?
