Make Me Beg by Rebecca Brooks

4.0

This was a great love story between two very different individuals. To avoid any spoilers, I will say that there are reasons why Mack always "goes it alone", and those reasons are part of what makes her so different from Connor, or so it seems. She doesn't want to risk her heart and comes across as emotionally aloof. Connor comes from a family with money and high expectations. He has an easy come easy go attitude, including his playboy way with women. Different backgrounds, different attitudes.

So how do these two seemingly opposites attract? Well, their chemistry is off the charts! Unfortunately, while that's the easy part for them their work, the real story, is them connecting on an emotional level.

While I loved the depth of character development in both characters, some of it seemed a little too overstated, i.e., in Mack's view, Connor is a manwhore. We got that the first few times its mentioned. By the 5th or 6th time? Ok, still got it. Ditto with Mack being closed off emotionally. Again, yes - got the memo on that several times!

Having said that, the back and forth between them is amusing and when the emotional walls finally come down, they see each other in a way that is refreshing because although they BOTH have faults and made mistakes, they WANT to work on it, WANT to be together! Especially Connor. He really goes all out to show Mack how much he loves her and it was sooo romantic! You will be happy you picked this up!

I haven't read the first book in the series, but I plan to now!

Although I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review, this is my own honest opinion.
