The Magician's Secret: A Maggie the Gatherer Short Story by Melissa McArthur

4.0

Another great short story about Maggie the Gatherer. This one cleared up some of my questions about what a Gatherer or a Weaver could do. The carnival setting was a nice touch. Magicians are always interesting.

I was happy to have Jordan back for this story. He and Maggie play really well off of each other. Julius and Maggie are a nice pair and it's interesting to see the relationship between a Gatherer and her mentor.

The ending was somewhat abrupt for me once again, but overall I really enjoyed the story. I like that it's connecting everything back to the original story. This idea could definitely make an entertaining novel, not just a series of short stories. I'm very much looking forward to the next one.
