Remix by Non Pratt

5.0

Told in alternating points of view, Remix is a story about friendship, love, and what happens when teens are let loose at a music festival. Having already read Trouble, I knew Remix was one I was going to enjoy, and as soon as I opened the pages I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed.

Kaz and Ruby are best friends, and together with siblings they attend a three day music festival. But what the girls thought would be a fun way to relax and de-stress after recent breakups quickly turns out the opposite of what they expected. Before leaving Kaz knew her ex was going, and wants him to see what he is missing. Meanwhile Ruby is determined to forget her ex, Stu, after he was caught cheating on her, but soon realises that she may still have feelings for him when his unexpected arrival throws a spanner in the works.

Remix was everything I expected it to be and more. Non's writing style shines though the pages, it's fun, it's sad, it's emotional, but it's real. Not one single part of Remix felt unbelievable, the characters are likeable, and while I'm pretty sure I didn't act like this when I was younger, I can see a lot of my friends in Kaz and Ruby.

Remix was a great read, and I enjoyed every page of it. The friendship between Kaz and Ruby is definitely put to the test, and as things where happening I was thinking Why are you doing that? or You have to share this news. I could actually see thier friendship crumble around the edges, both of them making some big mistakes that not only affect them, but also others around them.

Looking back after I've finished Remix I do think Kaz was blind to what was going on, and she just chose not to put the pieces together, happily living in her own land of make believe. Ruby also makes some mistakes, and I do think they were honest ones, she didn't really think about the aftermath of it all, so I did feel sorry for her dealing with the blowout.

Final Verdict
Remix is another great story from Non, and I can't wait to see what comes next from her, I already know it will be one to read.
