This book has all of Uncle Steve’s greatest hits. Widowed writer, small town in Maine with a dark secret, children in peril, and a largely unsuccessful attempt at writing black characters. It genuinely chilled me but I probably wouldn’t visit this one again.

For fellow King fans, I also wonder how/if the “outsider” that Mike perceives in the climax ties in to the broader King-verse?
