While "A Deadly Education" offers an intriguing concept and moments of excitement, it was a challenging read for me overall. I did not eagerly reach for the book, resulting in 3 stars from me.
While detailed, the main character's inner monologue often felt like rambling, leaving me feeling bored. I had high hopes for the book because I am seemingly in my YA, dark academia era, but I struggled to stay engaged.
One of the main issues I had was with the excessive exposition. The frequent info dumps were complex and distracting, making it difficult to follow the main narrative. Despite the extensive world-building, I still need clarification about the school's purpose and why the children must attend.
However, the last few chapters were the highlight for me, showing a promising direction for the series. Despite my challenges with the book, the ending has left me curious and hopeful, eager to continue reading in hopes of finding answers.
