I love the flipped script—Myrtle and her father at odds with the exasperated Miss Judson was a clever way to shake up the somewhat tired narrative. Mr. Hardcastle apparently wising up (or allowing himself to admit) to his feelings for Miss Judson perfectly rounded out the book. The mystery itself, however, felt like a wild string of coincidences, and left much to be desired.
