Peril at End House by Agatha Christie

mysterious medium-paced

4.0

Peril At End House was my pick for April’s #ReadChristie2024 which has taken us into the 1930’s. The official choice was Murder At The Vicarage but I had read that not so long ago. I wanted a book I didn’t remember or thought I had read before so this was a good choice.

It is one of the books featuring my favourite detective that is Poirot with his trusty sidekick Hastings. It took me on very many twists and turns! I had no clue who the person was that was trying to murder Nick - the lady whose life was at peril. Poirot got quite stressed at times trying to save this young woman’s life but of course he works it all out in the end in a very satisfying and shocking conclusion.

This story has so much going on with drugs, poison, secret doorways, suspicious characters and missing wills. Lots to keep you glued to the pages!

The banter between Hastings and Poirot always makes me laugh and I get just as irritated by Hastings as Poirot does at times when he jumps to the wrong conclusions!

Overall, it is a fun and enjoyable read like all Agatha’s books are and is one I doubt many readers will be able to guess who the culprit is!
