It’s your typical cute young adult novel with an adorable couple facing struggles in their relationship which is fine for me. Usually, J.E. Smith’s books to me were your usual romance novels which are cute and short but this one fell flat for me. The story was very dragging. The book consisted of 97% about the 9-10 hours they spent together and the remaining percentage of how they spent their year apart, the things they’ve experienced and how – after all they’ve went through – they ended up together. The last 20 pages of the book was what saved it from getting a two star-rating.

People who forget to check on their friends because they got into a relationship is automatically in the Bad Person Category for me and Clare definitely goes into that category. I don’t get why people must separate because they are going on different places, it just shows how petty your relationship is. If you love each other wholeheartedly then distance would not matter. The way Clare and Aidan analyzed their decision regarding their relationship was like deciding whether they should get separate orders of medium popcorn instead of getting one large tub. Clare was a particularly hard character to relate to and I in all my honest opinion, J.E Smith did not do a great job at creating romance for the two. As the story goes on, I find myself getting frustrated at Clare because she was getting was she wanted from the beginning and then she became upset! I loved it when Stella pointed out that Clare thinks the world revolves around her and I want to clap Stella in the back for saying that.

There was good character development though…in the last 20 pages of the book. I think Clare and Aidan finally had time to mature while they were away for College and that college classes blew some sense into their being.

All in all, would I recommend it for everybody to read? Hmm, no. But if it is for someone who loves romance novels and sickly-sweet love stories then yes, why not. Have you read this book? What was your overall thought about it? I want to know what you think about it in the comments below!
