Fat Tuesday by Sandra Brown

3.0

Between 2 and 3 stars.

I have really enjoyed her previous books I’ve read. This one not so much.

Maybe because it was written in the 90s originally, but I did not enjoy all the jabs at sex workers, non-binary and gay people, as well as black people. I was just super uncomfortable reading a lot of parts. I understand trying to get us into the kind of the villains, but that isn’t the way.

Not only that, but the book moved super slow. I feel like most of the book was the last 100 pages or so. So much before that, was just a lot of weird inactive activity. I also felt like the characters were very flat; there was hint to some growth but I didn’t feel like I got ✨feeeeel✨ the growth, it was more just stated.

I enjoyed the suspense part of the book, Sandra Brown knows how to make thing suspenseful and how to add in twists and turns. That’s about the only thing that kept me going, I really wanted to see how Basile pulled off all the twists and turns.
