The Accident Season by Moïra Fowley-Doyle

5.0

This is the author's first book and the second I read. I'm totally mesmerized by the way she writes.

Cara, her big sister Alice, and her "ex-stepbrother" Sam must face another "accident season" along with her mother. It happens every year in the month of October. Scratches, wounds, bruises, and broken bones are part of their daily lives during this month, even though her mother and they take several precautions. Why are they cursed with this?

Bea, Cara's best friend, has read in the tarot cards that the accident season of this year is going to be the worst. What does it mean? Even worse than the one four years ago?

Not only will they have to deal with this month's curse, but also a series of curious and even uncanny events. One of these is the strange disappearance of a childhood friend of theirs, Elsie. Cara is determined to find her, but every time she asks someone about her they seem to don't know her at all. It's like she's been invisible all this time. Where is Elsie?

⚠️Finally, I'd like to highlight that there are some serious and terrible events in the story. I can't explain more, because it's part of the development of the plot.

I've really liked this book. The way Moïra Fowley-Doyle weaves the story in a magical surrealism world, the characters, the plot and the mystery surrounding them all is fascinating. Another book by her that is hard to put down. I totally recommend it
