Conan the Barbarian, Vol. 1: The Life and Death of Conan, Book One by Mahmud Asrar, Jason Aaron

4.0

Grim and bleak and filled with the main character's prowess and bloody exploits, even the language Aaron uses evokes the original Howard tales - this is good. Using an attack from enemies in his distant past come back for revenge as a framing device, this jumps around in Conan's history from point to point and walks you around what it's like to be a barbarian in the Hyborean age. Needless to say, I'm very much enjoying these return to form tales of Conan, and can't wait for more.
