The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

5.0

Have I really never written a review of this book?? I just finished my… fourth(?) reread in March 2022. I read this series about once a year and every time I’m impressed and very satisfied. I read the kindle version this time so I could highlight quotes and short exchanges I enjoyed or were meaningful to me, but there’s just so many. One thing that stands out about this book is how well it is written. Normally when I reread books, I skim some parts or skip to my favorite scenes. Not in this book. I read every word because the language and story are so beautifully put. I appreciate the carefulness that Rothfuss takes crafting, though I’m ready for the rest of the series! Obviously, I love the story- it’s amazing and no complaints. I especially love Kvothe’s time with the Edema Ruh and with Auri. I like his cleverness. I like Kilvin and Kvothe’s friends. Deanna has grown on me- it’s hard to like someone when the character I’m cheering for has such difficulty and longing for her. It tortures me for him to do nothing, though I understand, with her nature, not to push her away. This is my favorite series!! I love them. I think the second is my favorite but it’s very close.
