Into the Dark by Peter Abrahams

3.0

I think the audio version affected my perspective of the book. I was annoyed that at times, Ingrid seemed to react or say things in a manner much younger than her 13 years. The main antagonists were not as well imagined as previous books, seeming to be stereotypes or parodies. That said, the book tied up a lot of loose ends that had been building in the background, and created an interesting plot. I figured out several of the twists long before Ingrid did, but it was fun seeing her assemble the clues and come to the right conclusions. As in life, the book does not conclude with a perfect, happy ending - there are still things to deal with and life goes on. I would not be surprised (or disappointed) if there were more books added to this series, designed only as a trilogy (for now). This book is meant for readers younger than me, and I think that it's perfectly suited for the age group. Highly recommended!
