Urchin and the Heartstone by M.I. McAllister

My heart is full.

This book has more scary elements than some of the others in the series do, but I will forever love it for bringing us some characters that I won't forget for the rest of my life. Fingal, who I named my cat after, always confident and easygoing and deeply loyal. Juniper, (who I will name a second cat after, should I ever get one), sensitive and kind and good. Cedar, who is strong and just and brave. Sepia, who is afraid, and still does the hard things. And little Hope - too pure for this world.

I know I will read these books over and over again for the rest of my life. Just thinking about them makes me emotional, and in a world that is so full of tragedy and loss and contempt, reading these books gives me hope for the good in people, and it shows me all the little things in life we can be grateful for.
