This was a beautiful collection of essays. Each essay wove together the life of the author and the life of the woman they were profiling, and the result was engaging and thought provoking. I had never heard of most of the women featured, and I loved that I learned so many new things. The authors also dug really deeply into their lives and experiences. They were radically honest and vulnerable while still showing resilience and determination. I found that really inspiring.
My two favorite essays were "Nangeli: Her Defiant Breasts" by Meera Nair and "Origins" by Taté Walker's. All of them were great, but these two were particularly engaging.
I often give away books after I finish them, but I'm keeping this one. I have a feeling that I will come back to it again and again.
