I wanted to watch the series, but decided to read the original material first. Maybe that's where I went wrong: I started this book with some expectations.
For example, the chemistry between Crowley and Aziraphale. It is there, but not as prevalent as I had hoped for. Overall, I hoped for much more appearences than they both had. The other characters weren't per se uninteresting or boring, but compared to a demon and an angel they almost always lose out.
The writing style itself is fine, there are some really funny moments, the end revelation is somewhat sweetly philosophical, but I can't help to find it rather underwhelming for the fantastic basic idea of the book.
