The Art of Assassin's Creed Syndicate by Paul Davies

3.0

It is nice to have an entire artbook dedicated to my favourite time period... but this one could've been better.
No, the artwork is nice and colours are done pretty well - the thing I admire in the actual game, too. Also, all the contrast between the rich and the poor.
But. There are about three or four concept arts featuring Evie. The rest is just Jacob or some random guy dressed like an assassin who looks nothing like Jacob. I understand it's concept art and it is different from the final version but still. It looked weird to me. And not to mention the horrible thought that they did not even plan for Evie at first. Or even Lydia, since there is a random dude in concept arts of /exclusively her/ mission.
Not all of artwork looks good, two. Messy, with weird rendering. Colours are still nice.
Liked a few concept ideas like Jacob rescuing a little girl from Bedlam or Jacob about getting drugged by templars. Shame it wasn't included in the game.
The writing is horrible. I just couldn't handle it at times. Maybe the fault is in the Russian translation I was reading in but believe me - it is horrible.
I have very mixed feelings about this artbook. Too much advertising of how amazing and glorious Ubisoft games are, I guess.
