The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune
2.5
Well…. I did want an easy, feel good, romantic read.
It was that, somewhat. I feel like that was the attempt, at least.
Here are a few things I didn’t like:
1: TJ Klune using children as mouthpieces to push pinterest-isk quotes about life on the reader
2: Nate (the protagonist) who is a journalist but doesn’t know crap, leading to
3: the repetition!!!! (Mostly of Nate saying he doesn’t know) but also in comparison with Klunes other works. There are many many sentences that are being repeated.
4: it was mostly a very boring book and not as much of a romance as I expected (more like: 15% of the book is romance)
For me, the bones beneath my skin shows Klunes biggest weak points: writing action and suspense. Meanwhile it was lacking his biggest strength: writing cozy small town, found family love stories, which are also funny.
Wouldn’t recommend.
