A House for Mr Biswas by V.S. Naipaul

4.0

I can't really say how this book was so enthralling. It's long and covers Mr Biswas whole life, from birth to death. The relationships are complicated, tedious and hurtful, even to the reader. The figures behave odd but what feels destructive to me holds the social bonds alive. Along his life, Mr Biswas is full of jealousy, hatred and scorn but somehow I rooted for him during his search for a house. Because after all, we are all thrown into this world, naked and already scarred, trying to find that place we can safely call home. To Mr Biswas.
