I loved the irreverent tone in such a tragic story. I listened to the audiobook and didn’t know this was a children’s book- I found that out afterwards. I felt it was a great palate-cleansing telling of something that is inherently a story of grief, duty, betrayal, loyalty, and disgust.
She utilises a crow as a narrator which was both quirky and creepy. She created a sense of urgency, but didn’t make the book feel too fast-paced.
I loved the interview with the crow at the end too- it was funny and also an awesome and engaging way to include her thoughts and analysis which I felt really added to the book.
