The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

4.0

This is the first book of The Bone Witch trilogy. It follows Tea, who find out she has the power of the dark after she accidentally raised her brother from the dead, and the events that transpired to make her the powerful asha she is now.

I love the concept of the book where its Tea narrating her story to a bard. We get to watch Tea, naive and innocent, try to learn and control her powers and its responsibilities then jumps back to present day Tea - grieving, powerful and dangerous . And we're left wondering what happened in between.

The world building is excellent. I felt fully immersed with the magic system and the word politics. The plot twist in this book really caught me by surprise. I still get goosebumps reading the last page.
