A-Force, Volume 1: Hypertime by Kelly Thompson, Marguerite Bennett, Jorge Molina, G. Willow Wilson, Jim Cheung

2.0

The idea of a team of ass-kicking superheroines is a fine one, and some of these characters are great (specifically, I personally like Nico Minoru, She-Hulk, and Captain Marvel). However, I felt like the writing wasn't up to snuff here, and the material was dragged down by bad jokes about Instagram/hipsters that took up an entire page, cheesy Whedon-lite dialog, and a gobsmacking amount of reliance on the old "speak English!" trope as a response to science talk, which frankly made this book seem really stupid and like it didn't trust a book about women to be "smart". Could have been good, but alas it was not to be.
