Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie

5.0

This is absolutely one of my favorite books that falls under "disaster gays in space".

Plot: it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. With every step forward the characters took they also took one step back and it as fantastic watching them try to figure out their next move. Their plans were very clever too, and not the easy way out you would think. Also, that plot twist had me SCREAMING. Despite all the foreshadowing, I didn't see it coming at all.

Characters:
- Most of the POV is Ettian. It's a lot of fun seeing him struggle between his loyalty to Gal and his loyalty to his people. He has SO MUCH anxiety, it's very relatable.
- Gal: I wish there was more from his POV. He struggles with A LOT in this book and I wish we could see more of what he was thinking.
Both characters are non-white, but the closest thing to a description is Ettian saying the brass paint on Gal's face barely shows but is very obvious on Ettian. Judging by the cover, it's probably safe to say Ettian is black, but Gal I'm not really sure.

Conclusion: you want disaster gays in space with mutual pining, sharing a bed, and a secret prince?? Yeah you do, go get this book
