1980's or not, still had to suspend disbelief at certain points. I highly doubt law enforcement would cease to realize there should be five brothers, not four. The entire court scene read rather unrealistic to me but I don't have enough knowledge to say otherwise. 

RIP Rick bro really needed some therapy and his flashback was hella sad
