Bony-Legs by Joanna Cole, Dirk Zimmer

A just-creepy-enough retelling of the Baba Yaga story. Sometimes young kids ask me for scary books, and I feel like this is a good fit for that situation. Bony Legs is genuinely creepy (she reminds me of the Boogieman from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon), but the story isn't terribly fraught with peril - making it a good choice for young readers. The illustrations are really distinctive, and if I had read this book as a kid, I'm sure it would be burned into my brain. Hoping that by passing this one along, I can encourage those long-lasting recollections in the newest generation of readers. :)
