This book surprised me! I went into this expecting that I might like it... turns out I loved it! My biggest complaint about this book is that it ended.

This is a book about feminity and what it means to be a woman, in relation to each other, society and a lover.

Allende's storytelling is rich and believable, and there's rarely a dull moment, even when nothing really significant is happening. I also loved the small crumbs of foreshadowing that are spread throughout the book, which seem inisignificant upon first glance.

This isn't normally a book I would've picked up, but Allende peaked my interest because I was trying to complete a reading challenge and I needed a book written by a latina author. In addition, my mom seems to love her. I'll definitely pick up more of her books, and more books like this!
