I liked this better than the first one. Lots of character development for the protagonist and the relationship between Peter and Rina. There is lots of talk about religion and both perspectives (for and against religion) are explored through the characters without necessarily picking a side. Every character had a role to play and the plot didn’t feel rushed or slow. The plot isn’t too fantastical or switching gears rapidly back and forth. For sure, the crime is extremely gruesome but nothing too groundbreaking.

I think I’d classify this novel as one to read for the progression of the story and the writing style rather than the overarching plot.
