Overall I enjoyed this book. It started off a bit slow and didn't start getting really interesting until about chapter 6. After that I found it far more appealing. Some of the events are somewhat predictable, though there are one or two unexpected occurrences that add interest and depth to the story. Things seemed a little too easy for the protagonist, she gets injured a lot but nothing seems to have any real long-term consequences . I would have liked to have seen more character development, both for the protagonist and supporting characters, but overall they are likable and I am interested enough to read the next instalment when it comes out.
Moderate: Sexual assault, Blood, Death, and Violence
Being a YA novel it does play it safe but there are a couple of scenes that might be triggering for some, one of the characters is attacked and it is implied there might have been a sexual assault had it not been interrupted . It can get a bit bloody throughout, in one scene someone's throat is cut , and there is mentions of trauma and flashbacks associated with killing and seeing others be killed.
