Heather is a Seattle based architect who returns home to Moses Lake, Texas to help her family in the sale of their family farm and funeral home to a major food producing corporation. She is expecting to be there a day or two but things don't go as planned, and she is there longer. She feels her family is keeping things from her and she is correct, they are. Heather's father had died 16 years ago and the truth of his death was never talked about, and each family member is still keeping secrets from each other. The book bogs down in the middle and I wanted to hit Heather upside the head, ask questions, don't make assumptions. In the end she learns the truth about her father's death and the family members all open up about why they do not want to sell their property to the large corporation.
