The Cat and the Devil by James Joyce, Roger Blachon

5.0

I have a soft spot for cats, and the book is even more dear to my heart, because it's part of some of my nicest memories of a recent trip to Ireland, so this 5-star review might be more subjective than usual.

In any case, this is easily the most accessible of all the works of Joyce I've (tried to) read, but it still encapsulates much of what is typical for Joyce, from the sardonic tone to the playfulness with which he treats language.

So, even though it is a book aimed at children, I very much enjoyed the time I spent with it and would recommend also giving it a quick read, should you ever happen to stumble across it.
