Defend the Dawn by Brigid Kemmerer
3.25

This book starts where Defy the Night left off. Corrick, Tessa, and Harristan managed to hold off the rebels and prevent revolution. But they’re finding it harder than they thought it would be to come to an agreement about the moonflowers. But, a surprise visitor offers a solution to that problem. Unfortunately, the traitorous counsel members have not given up. So despite the possible solution, the kingdom is in even more danger than ever before.

This one was a little frustrating. Because while the story is interesting, things are a little frustrating and annoying, and the author makes it really hard to like anybody in this. It’s really hard to know who to root for. I would find myself and Hearns rolling my eyes at both Tessa and Corrick because both of them were a bit insufferable. Tessa was annoyingly naïve. Corrick was just plain annoying. And the two would constantly fight about stupid things. They kind of disappointed me as an alleged couple.

Anyway, book 3 looks like it will bring about even more action and drama and betrayal and strange alliances. Should be interesting. 3.25 stars.
