This was a really good listen. Gabrielle Union has done and said some trash things in her past and isn't scared to read herself for filth and it's all good because she learned from it. I enjoyed hearing her talk about her time working on the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, that's one of my favorite 90s movies and picturing her and Heath and the rest of the cast chilling in hotel rooms and going out was fun. Her talking about being raped was really hard to listen to. She was open about how it still affects her life to this day. Also hearing about her talk about having multiple miscarriages was really sad. This book came out before her and Dwayne welcomed their beautiful baby girl via surrogate and I couldn't be more happy for her. I love how she calls Dwayne's sons "Our boys". Many step parents aren't even trying to be hands on with their step kids but Gabrielle has been such an advocate for them and their treatment in school and with teaching them how to be around police. Enjoyed hearing her talk about the parties Prince would have. I would have loved to have been a fly on the walls during them!
At the end of the book Gabrielle mentions a good friend of hers not getting to the doctor soon enough and dying from breast cancer at a really young age. This was extremely sad. I'm one of those people who goes to the doctor every blue moon if that so hearing her talk about her friend passing has made me ready to start going and getting check ups regularly. This was a really good listen.
