The Shadowy Third (Fantasy and Horror Classics) by Ellen Glasgow

4.0

First of, I don't like horror generally as a genre. I have too much imagination and I'm already quite proficient at terrifying myself. That being said I really like this story. The horror is quite gentle and also subtle, because the narrator (who may or may not be reliable, I'm bad at figuring that out) seldom feels the horror of the situation herself. She's caught up in the charm of the antagonists personality and even in the end does nothing to bring him to justice (other than failing to warn him of her suspicions but then how could she?)A nice little read for this season, perfect for reading on a dark story night or around a campfire.
