Though I didn't like this book as much as the first one, I still really enjoyed it. It was a solid continuation of the story and the characters definitely grew beyond where they were at the end of book 2. My favorite aspect was probably the main character and how she continues to be so awkward in a very relatable way. I also really enjoyed the addition of Ariadne, Emily's niece, who joined the main cast this book. I hope she plays a significant role in book 3 as well as I loved seeing Emily having to adapt to a sort of mentor role. Something I missed in this book that was very strong in the first was a strong sense of the culture and the people who lived in the village Emily was visiting. She was in a different location this story, and the people in this areas were much less welcoming so we didn't have as much of a chance to get to know them. I understood why, but I really missed the villagers from the first book. Overall, I still really enjoyed it and am looking forward to book 3.
