The Saint Valentine's Day Murders by Ruth Dudley Edwards

Did not finish book.
Period-consistent racism and sexism permeates this mystery, and even the protagonist is insufficiently likeable to compensate for his frequent "jokes" about his girlfriend's Jewishness and femaleness, and his snobby comments about his co-workers, even though they are a pathetic and unpleasant lot. I think this was supposed to be clever, but it just grated on me. And I'm a medievalist who can deal with a lot of old-timey prejudices. Ugh.
